For the visitor, Great Ireland Experiences offers a fun, user-friendly mobile app that improves their overall experience which they can share through social media. For management of the attraction it offers a way to boost revenues per visitor and inform smarter business decisions.

The Problem

While carrying out extensive research with visitor attraction management, Ivan Tuohy, founder of Great Ireland Experiences, identified that as a sector, it was very difficult to communicate to a large percentage of customers. The key problems that emerged:

1. Attractions could not identify on average between 30% to 60% of visitors as they came through tour operators and 3rd party channels

2. They couldn’t tell the real story beyond what was in front of visitor

3. They couldn’t communicate beyond 5 to 7 major languages which resulted in a large percentage of visitors not being able to engage and experience the attraction directly

4. The businesses had no external links to other attractions

5. The attraction management couldn’t commercially communicate to their visitors so as to drive revenue and upsell products and services

His last position was general manager for Shannon Heritage, Ireland’s largest commercial visitor attraction operator where his key sites were Bunratty Castle & Folk Park in Co. Clare and King John’s Castle in Limerick city. He has recently completed an MBA at the University of Limerick (2018).
